For now I will say that the ARC I picked up of Enge's BLOOD OF AMBROSE -- EXCELLENT!!!
Completely fabulous. I've adored Enge's Morlock stories since I read my first in Black Gate. I think I may be up to three now? If not, this is the third and best of all.
Tell me you like crows? And corpse-golems. And boy-kings. And trials by combat. And ancient warrior sorceresses with attitude. And a lot of cursing. And kickass apprentices. And wit. And hunchbacks. And women trapped in ice. And treacherous tricksish fathers. And complexities. And SURPRISES! And a sense of breadth and history and loneliness and LANGUAGE.
Enge, apparently, teaches Ancient Languages at some university in the midwest. As with Tolkien's inherent linguistic advantage (from his mother's side of the family, may I add), this expertise bestows a deftness and precision in Enge's prose and gives him a huge advantage over the rest of us non-Ancient-Language-speakers.
Also, the man is funny. Ribald, even.
WHEN IS THE NEXT MORLOCK BOOK COMING OUT?
