Top Secret Project That I Am Not Telling ANYONE about...

So, David Sklar's poem "Cat's Canticle" went live on Mythic Delirium the other day, and he tagged me in a post about it, promising a Shakespeare quote in the poem's notes.

"The Sh'peare!" I said, and clicked through the link. "I'm a SUCKER for the Sh'peare!"

But the poem itself BEGGED for a read-aloud, which I did, and I thought to myself, "Self, this would make an excellent song."

And that reminded me of a Sam Henderson poem, which would ALSO make an excellent song.

And that sort of made me think that wouldn't it be DREAMY to find, like, 9 poems by THE SPECULATIVE POETS I LOVE that were written to form and either make up music to them?

Or find someone else to make up music for them, and then maybe to make an album, maybe, like, with The Banjo Apocalypse Crinoline Troubadours???

AND WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF WE CALLED THE ALBUM "GOBLIN DELIRIUM" AFTER THE COOPERATIVE POETRY READINGS WE USED TO HAVE AT CONVENTIONS???

It's just a pipe dream.

It's not even a plan.

But.

Do YOU have any suggestions?

LINK IN THE COMMENTS!!!

REMEMBER. This is just a game. Don't get your knickers in a twist. (Unless that's your thing.)

I have lots of ideas and not a lot of time. But I love to dream. So dream with me.

Sometimes... Sometimes things... just... happen.

Especially when community gets involved.

Here are my three so far:

Cat's Canticle, by David Sklar

Spell, by Samantha Henderson

To the Royal Society of Cryptozoologists, by Caitlyn Paxson

There's one by Theodora Goss that she posted at some point to her Facebook page, something about vines? Or leaves? But none of the links on her Poem Page at her website are the right ones.

Anyway. I know there are more SONG POEMS out there.

Written as a Gilbert & Sullivanesque patter song, sung by my daughter at an Arisia poetry reading!
Cool! Good one! CREEPY AND CHEEKY!!!
You should send me a recording of your daughter singing it! I want to HEAR!!!
The first piece of mine that comes to mind is "Reynard the Revenant," though there are probably others.

Just about anything Dora Goss writes would work, she almost exclusively writes formal verse.
Hmmn. I would want SPECIFIC Gosseries, I think.
See e-mail.
YES! YES TO REYNARD!!!
Awesome.
I'd like your bass fiddle one on there, done just as you do it, though (i.e., you don't need to sing it, just put some good Devil-Went-Down-To-Georgia music in the background).
Well. That will DEFINITELY be recorded SOMEWHERE.

I say definitely with my tongue FIRMLY in my CHEEK!
So cool!
The poems? THEY ARE QUITE GOOD, NO?
YES, THEY ARE. INDEED, INDUBITABLY, VERILY!
I have a bunch of stuff that might do. Will look it over this weekend. Feel free to ping me if I get distracted by moving.
It seems you have been moving forever! I will try to remember! But this game is a thing of yesterday. If it becomes a thing of tomorrow, I will pursue more vigorously!
((((giggles maniacally and knows she is helpless to resist))))
I do so like when you giggle!
