C.S.E. Cooney, Amal El-Mohtar, and Caitlyn Paxson are the Banjo Apocalypse Crinoline Troubadours! Tonight they come together from across borders and oceans for this rare performance of music, poetry, storytelling, and dramatic reading. Hear tell of witches, bone sharks, and ballads from a distant star! Marvel at sea kings, ancient cities, and cryptozoologists! This is a one-of-a-kind performance in Ottawa that is not to be missed!

Tickets are $10 at the door. Cash only.

C.S.E. Cooney grew up in a desert with a pack of brothers and a plastic tub of dress-up clothes. Much later, she and her wardrobe migrated to Chicago for college, where she received her degree in Fiction Writing with a minor in Theater. Now a resident of Rhode Island, her fiction and poetry can be found in APEX, SUBTERRANEAN, STRANGE HORIZONS, CLOCKWORK PHOENIX 3, GOBLIN FRUIT, MYTHIC DELIRIUM, and other publications.

She blogs at http://csecooney.livejournal.com/.

Amal El-Mohtar is a Canadian-born child of the Mediterranean, currently living in Glasgow, Scotland. She received the 2009 Rhysling award for her poem "Song for an Ancient City," and has received a Nebula nomination for "The Green Book," a short story originally published in the Arab/Muslim issue of APEX magazine. Her work has appeared in many online and print publications, including STRANGE HORIZONS, WEIRD TALES, and IDEOMANCER.

A full bibliography is available here: http://amalelmohtar.com/bibliography/. She is a harpist and she edits GOBLIN FRUIT, an online quarterly dedicated to fantastical poetry.

Caitlyn Paxson has pursued studies in writing, folklore, and performance in the United States, Canada, England, Scotland and France. She is the Managing Artistic Director of the Ottawa StoryTellers, and is happy to have a career firmly rooted in story after a series of odd jobs that include fiber arts consultant, legal document and poetry transcriber, and shepherdess. She is the assistant editor of GOBLIN FRUIT, plays the harp, and is learning to play the banjo. Her work has appeared in SHIMMER, CABINET DES FEES, MYTHIC DELIRIUM, and other publications.
